Launched in March 2020, the <strong>campaign unites <\/strong>major <strong>tech companies and organisations <\/strong>around a shared goal: to <strong>increase diversity, equality, and inclusion across the industry <\/strong>and <strong>help technology better reflect the world it serves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative recognises that the <strong>tech sector has historically struggled with representation<\/strong> &#8211; not only in terms of gender and ethnicity, but also in how<strong> workplaces include and support people with different cognitive styles<\/strong>, including<strong> neurodivergent individuals<\/strong>. By encouraging companies to rethink their cultures, systems, and processes, #ChangeTheFace <strong>aims to create more equitable and welcoming environments for all employees.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A cornerstone of these efforts is the <strong>neurodiversity research <\/strong>project conducted by the Tavistock Institute of Human Relations and Inner Ambitions on behalf of the #ChangeTheFace Alliance. This research, the largest global workplace survey on neurodiversity in the tech industry to date, <strong>involved more than 2,100 employees<\/strong> from companies such as Colt, Nokia, Samsung, and Vodafone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>study revealed <\/strong>that nearly <strong>half of neurodivergent employees feel affected by their neurodivergent traits<\/strong> at work on most days, yet many do <strong>not disclose their conditions<\/strong> &#8211; often <strong>due to a lack of formal diagnosis <\/strong>or concerns about <strong>stigma<\/strong>. The research highlights systemic challenges in recruitment, workplace interactions, and career progression that can disadvantage neurodivergent workers if not addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Importantly, the <strong>study <\/strong>also <strong>emphasises <\/strong>what <strong>organisations can do<\/strong> to improve inclusivity:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Foster psychological safety and trust<\/strong>, enabling employees to be open about their needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Evaluate workplace culture and systems<\/strong>, removing barriers that disadvantage neurodivergent individuals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Offer support without requiring formal diagnosis or disclosure<\/strong>, to make assistance accessible to all.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Invest in education and allyship training<\/strong>, so colleagues understand and support diverse cognitive styles.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Leaders involved in #ChangeTheFace have stressed that promoting neurodiversity and broader inclusion is not only an ethical imperative but also a strategic advantage. Diverse teams tend to be more creative, innovative, and effective at problem-solving \u2014 qualities that are critical for the future of the tech industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In summary, <strong>#ChangeTheFace represents a collaborative effort<\/strong> to reshape the tech sector into a more inclusive space.
